Sorors and friends, as the new chaplain for the New York Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., I want to encourage us to remain strong not only in the Lord, but in our Sisterhood. At our 54th Eastern Regional Conference, we heard from our National Chaplain, Bishop Vashti McKenzie who reminded us that our sorority is based on Christian principles. And while not everyone may believe the same or worship the same, the fact that you are on this page likely means that you believe in a Divine Creator that orders the steps of this world if we align ourselves in the will and purpose of that Creator. That’s good news!
Remember, Sorors, that we are torch bearers. We are effective together. That’s what the sisterhood means. That we work together, that we confront injustice together, that we educate our communities together. Together, we light the world!
Beginning in October, members of the New York Alumnae Chapter of our sorority will receive a monthly message based on our Nine Jewels.
