Welcome to the web site of the New York Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, the first graduate chapter of our sorority. Delta Sigma Theta was founded on January 13, 1913 by twenty-two African-American students at Howard University. This year marks the centennial anniversary for the founding of our illustrious organization.
New York Alumnae Chapter membership includes 150 women all diverse in age, background and profession. But we share a common bond rooted in sisterhood, scholarship and service. Our service area spans throughout New York City river-to-river south of 155th Street.
We honor our missionary Founders, celebrate our sacred sisterhood and embark on a new century of committed public service through the Five-Point Programmatic Thrust:
| Educational Development
- Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy
- Mary McLeod Bethune Scholarship
- School America
- Delta GEMS
| Economic Development
- Economic Development Series
| International Awareness and Involvement
- Delta Days at the United Nations
| Political Awareness and Involvement
- Social Action
| Physical and Mental Health
- Greater Harlem Nursing Home
- Health & Wellness
We are also well-known for our annual fundraising events - Evening of Elegance Scholarship Awards Gala and Kings Who Cook. Please enjoy your stay on our web-site and take the time to learn about our Delta House Initiative. I would like to extend a special thanks to the communications committee for their ingenuity and dedication to this project. We hope you enjoy perusing our web site.
